		<description>You can tweak it further by turning the group into a layer. Just open the XML Editor (++), select your group and add a new attribute named "inkscape:groupmode" with "layer" as the content. Your reflected group is now a layer and everything you put inside that layer will be reflected; much easier to work with.</description>

Could you please tell me how to color-fill an empty circle?
I know this would be a piece of cake in Gimp. I'm hoping it's just a matter of "knowing-how" in Inkscape.

		<description>Awesome tutorial!!  I substituted connecting the two curves with converting the stroke to a path, and applied a blur (with a clipping path) to the finished group. This produced a "perfect" gradient with no messy edges or interpolation artifacts after running the script.  I was also using Inkscape on Kubuntu Linux (if it makes a difference :p). Thanks for posting!</description>
